It has just come to light that BitPay is looking into the migration of leaving Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. This came from a recent announcement where they have announced the support for Ripple's XRP. The soon to launch integration of the token will allow the thousands of merchants that already have the payment solution downloaded to now accepting e-commerce payments with one of the biggest cryptocurrencies by market cap in the space, XRP. To claify, BitPay isn't removing Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash from its platform however, they will no longer be the two main focuses of the payment solution. In a press release posted this week, the crypto payments giant BitPay has teamed up with Ripple’s developer initiative, Xpring. This will allow for payments in XRP to go through “BitPay’s merchant processing and cross-border payments platform safely, securely, and compliantly.” this payment method will be activated by the end of 2019.  Soon BitPay merchants around the world 🌍🌏🌎 will be able to accept #XRP payments alongside cryptocurrencies like ETH, BTC, and BCH. Read about our upcoming work with @Ripple 📲:  https://t.co/H6LamztI15 — BitPay (@BitPay) October 2, 2019 Sean Rolland, the Director of Product at BitPay, spoke on the matter in regards to the unexpected integration and remarked the XRP payments that are important as they are “fast, cost-effective and scalable”. The Senior Vice President of Xpring, Ethan Beard expressed his regarding the move saying that it will be a “key in advancing the proliferation and adoption of XRP as a medium of exchange to help solve real-world problems.” In terms of price, Ripple’s XRP is valued at $0.249811 following a 0.3 percent change in price over the past 24 hours.  It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out.
