On April 17, Wirecard and TON.Labs announced the launch of a new joint project aimed at creating an infrastructure for the Telegram Open Network (TON) blockchain. Workers of these enterprises are planning to develop a financial and technological platform for money transfers and banking operations. TON.Labs specializes in building infrastructure based on blockchain technology, while Wirecard is developing innovative digital financial services. Specialists of the companies intend to combine their knowledge and skills in order to create a payment system for the TON network and the Telegram messenger. The news about the joint project was commented by Wirecard Vice President Georg von Waldenfels: “We are excited to be partnering with TON Labs. Their immense experience in highly scalable technology and decentralized solutions as well as the strong global growth of Telegram messenger will be instrumental for the success of our joint program”. Alexander Filatov, Managing Partner at TON Labs, said that the integration of the TON blockchain into the Telegram ecosystem opens new opportunities for business and technological innovation. Representatives of the company did not talk about particular products and the date of their release to the market. Given the fact that the blockchain Telegram Open Network has not yet been launched, it’s premature to talk about specific financial services based on it. TON Labs specialists do not have access to the TON source code, so they develop software based on the documentation on the decentralized project of the Telegram messenger. In early April, representatives of TON.Labs announced the start of work on a project to create tools for development of decentralized applications (DApp) in the TON network. The blockchain Telegram Open Network will have its own platform for creating a DApp called TON Services, so the practical value of the tools from TON.Labs is questionable.
