cryptodaily.co.uk: Watford’s First Game With ฿ Logo Draws Path For the Future Season
Whereas for members of the community, bitcoin is a household name, in many parts of the world, bitcoin is an unknown entity. So for many fans of the Watford football club, when they saw Tom Cleverley run out onto the pitch and score at their home stadium of Vicarage Road, the symbol of The Thai Baht (฿) may have got them thinking.
Following on from an article we published last week in regards to the English football club Watford FC being sponsored by Sportsbet.io, the football team now has the bitcoin logo embroidered onto their sleeves.
The premier league team may be at the bottom of the table but Watford are now proud sponsors of Sportsbet.io which saw their home kit updated in time for Sunday's game against Arsenal at home. With the bitcoin logo now shown on the player's sleeves, a whole new fanbase is exposed to the wonders of cryptocurrency and more specifically, bitcoin.
The players will be wearing the new kit for the remainder of this season but we will have to see whether the sponsorship continues into next year.
Justin Le Brocque, the marketing head at Sportsbet.io explained how users of Sporstbet were also active users of bitcoin and the like and that it was their initial support that helped in placing them on the map.
Le Brocque said:
“The crypto community has been massively supportive of us since our beginnings, so putting the Bitcoin logo on the sleeve felt like a fun way to give back while also showing our support for the community.”
The Sportsbet.io marketing head went onto say that they wished for the general stereotypes on cryptocurrency to be dispelled amongst the public whilst simultaneously giving them an actual demonstration of the benefits that crypto can offer.
“Our partnership with Watford marks a major disruption in the world of traditional sports sponsorship, and by adding the Bitcoin logo we hope this world’s first partnership will create even more buzz around cryptocurrencies.”
