cryptodaily.co.uk: Buterin: “I Tried To Be An Intern At Ripple Back In The Day”

A long time ago in 2013, the co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin applied for an internship at Ripple. Yep, you read that right! In a recent conversation between Buterin and Brian Armstrong from Coinnbaseon Twitter, Buterin revealed that he actually applied for a job at Ripple in 2013, this was just two years before Ethereum was officially released. Fun fact: I tried to be an intern at Ripple back in the day (mid 2013), but US visa complications having to do with the fact that the company had only existed for 9 months and the minimum was 1 year stopped me. — Vitalik Non-giver of Ether (@VitalikButerin) April 19, 2019 Because of issues related to his visa, Buterin couldn’t take up the opportunity though and so his full focus seemingly went into Ethereum. This all comes from a tweet from Armstrong in reference to how hard it is to get a visa for the United States. The tweet from Buterin gained a bit of traction in the crypto space and a lot of crypto ‘celebrities’ responded to his tweet including the founder of TRON, Justin Sun who responded saying: “When I found out these facts from @justmoon in late 2013/early 2014, had we both been at Ripple, I am certain we would have been buddies👬since we would have been the only 2 millennials there! ❤@VitalikButerin” As well as Sun, the CTO at Ripple, David Schwartz said: “That still saddens me. Think of the great things you might have accomplished! Maybe apply again? We're always looking for good interns.” Just imagine how different things would have turned out if Buterin was given the internship. Maybe both him and Sun would be best buddies and Ethereum would not be as big as it is today. But everything happens for a reason and maybe everything turned out for the best. Buterin went on to launch Ethereum, currently the second biggest cryptocurrency in the space and it has quickly become a project which has great potential as a ‘decentralised world computer’.
