Want to avoid crowded places but still participate in meetings all across a nation? Well, the Japanese crypto community has seemingly found a way to do this. Meet up groups from Bitcoin Cash in Osaka, Japan will allow members to digitally get involved at regularly scheduled events across the country. This has all come up due to the outbreak of coronavirus over the past few months. Japan has less than 1000 reported cases of the infection however in an attempt to nip it in the bud before it gets worse, many people are taking to self-isolation as a way to avoid contracting the disease. The Tokyo Bitcoin Cash Meetup group had initially scheduled two meetings for March which due to the pandemic, were forcibly cancelled. But the meetup organiser for Bitcoin Cash, Akane Yokoo notified members of the group on the 17th of March that meetups would instead be held digitally.  They have said: “Our virtual meetups will start this coming Wednesday March 18th from 7:30pm and we plan to host every Wednesday at the same time when our physical meetups happen.” Many sanitary products such as toilet paper and hand sanitiser is a big worry for many people all across the world. Supermarkets across the United Kingdom and the United States are being emptied with these valuable assets due to the outbreak of coronavirus. Yokoo has suggested that visiting meetings in person is also possible for those who feel comfortable.  He said: “Even though we do not want to encourage members to go out and get sick, members should be free to do whatever they choose to do. If they choose to get together physically, the merchants are open for business as usual.” It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out.
