TheTedNelson: ZigZag: the BZZ project declares victory, 2010
In 2010, Brewster Kahle sponsored a 30-day "code sprint"
as a way of sponsoring the ZigZag concept.
Brewster and Ted assembled a team and cut
the project to the bone.
We created a ZigZag-LIKE interface for the Archive's
Open Library that presented ZigZag-like
row-and-column views of specific subjects
and authors.
A true ZigZag system, like Gzz
(see xanadu.com/zigzag) is huge,
with many conventional structures
to represent time, space, people ...
There was no time for that.
But we created a viewing mechanism
that uses some of those aspects
for surprising views.
It worked nicely as of the rollout meeting,
shown in this video.
However, subsequent changes in the Archive's
book storage have decoupled the viewer,
so it is no longer available.
Members of the team were (in alphabetical order)
Edward Betts
Marlene Mallicoat
Art Medlar
Ted Nelson
Andrew Pam
Jeffrey Ventrella.
