Anders Kargaard: Where Does Money Get It's Value?

Friends and Sponsors of the show: https://mathbot.com/ - learn math and programming by programming a robot to solve tasks https://bisq.network/ - one of the leading decentralized cryptocurrency exchanges. Decentralized gives you the advantage that your name is not in a database for someone to hack and sell to dark markets for shopping list. The value of money comes ALONE from the fact that it is the chosen “money” in a certain geographical area. The fact that it acts as the “thing” that everything is priced in (unit of account) means that it is the unit that everybody needs to acquire to be able to pay for stuff. .And since you can use it to pay for things - get things in return for it - then it clearly has value. If you can take $30,000 down to a car dealership and exchange it for a car, means that the $30,000 has the value of that car. So clearly it was valuable. There is NOTHING ELSE magically that makes it valuable. Gold was NOT valuable because it is used as jewellery. No. It is used as jewellery because it has value. I recommend that you follow JW Weatherman on Twitter https://twitter.com/WeathermanIam. CAUTION: JW’s Twitter is NOT a safe zone. Feelings will be hurt. Truth will spit. Mics will be dropped. Mathbot.com is still in Beta, so please report any bugs on Github: https://github.com/JWWeatherman/math_bot/ Visit Mathbot’s Vision Statement https://goo.gl/h1Trni to see how they plan to disrupt that old, fragile, and outdated paradigm. Decentralize education NOW! Mathbot teaches kids, or adults, math and programming by giving a robot graphical commands to complete certain tasks. Using Euclid’s method of teaching (which was the way math was taught for 2,300 years), Mathbot gently guides users to discover mathematical principles out for themselves (not by boring, rote repetition). By the time someone completes even just a few levels, they will begin to understand math in a new way—in an intuitive way. They’ll begin to know the math in their very bones. It’s also quite fun and satisfying.
