TheTedNelson: Two friends' rival planning systems-- Mendell and Mauchly
I met a guy in 1968 who showed me a clever gadget
for planning, very simple-- "The Planalog".
That was Stanley Mendell;
his son Harry became my friend separately.
It turned out that my other friend, the great John Mauchly,
had built a far more sophisticated system for planning,
but the Planalog kept backers away from Mauchly's system.
Such is the strange world we live in,
and getting stranger.
Harry has a big-data lecture about
how much they can find out about individuals
through AI techniques--

When we last spoke a few weeks ago (early 2019),
Harry was at the Federal Reserve.
