New reporting has found strong evidence Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele sought to undermine freedom of speech in the Central American nation, contradicting Bitcoin's core values. Over the past two years, at least 22 cell phones of El Faro's journalists were infected with the military-grade spyware Pegasus, which has previously been used to monitor critics and dissidents worldwide. Is Bukele an acceptable figurehead for spreading bitcoin adoption?
