TheTedNelson: Galeridge 2: Memories of the Galeridge main house

  • Monday, 02 September 2019 01:03
Galeridge was extended downward from the first lot when we bought this big old house in 1943. Unfortunately in the eighties the house was badly rebuilt, with this room made huge. From 1943 to 1953, this house holds many memories of the Holm family, mostly happy. I'll tell some of them-- about the different rooms, and what happened in them. Especially this room, once a much-smaller kitchen. This kitchen had a wonderful east porch, where we could sit under the roof when it rained, rocking and talking. The small kitchen was the room where we talked about literature and science and read to each other (including Bush's "ad "As we May Think", in 1945). A terrible accident here at Christmas 1949 nearly killed my grandfather, and forged my attitudes toward interfaces and tekkies.
