Comparison of Top 7 ICO Platforms. Which one should you invest in? Ethereum (ETH) What is it? Ethereum is the most popular decentralsed platform that runs smart contracts. While it is not the first smart contract platform Ethereum is the one that made smart contracts and dapps popular. It was also the main factor that contributed to the 2017 cryptocurrency growth (current mcap: 50.1B) Current ICOs Ethereum made ICOs popular and there are hunders of ICOs being constantly launched on it. The ICOs were the main source of the crazy growth that Ethereum experienced. People saw ICOs as a good way to make money and in order to contribute in the ICOs people needed Ethereum tokens NEO (NEO) What is it? NEO is often labelled as 'Ethereum of China'. Just like Ethereum it's a smart contract platform on blockchain. NEO offers few changes in terms of technology which in my opinion could mean that NEO is superior (mostly scalability and developer friendliness). It also currently reward holders through GAS generation (current mcap: 4B) Current ICOs Currently NEO is the second biggest ICO platfrom after Ethereum. It already had decent amount of ICOs released with few really good dapps being launched on NEO. Because they are less ICOs on NEO those ICOs usually work closer with the NEO team. NEM (XEM) What is it? NEM tries to be more business oriented and specifically designed with speed and scalability - something that most of the blockchain platforms are struggling with. They are launching something called Catapult which is a full-featured blockchain engine that can power both private and public networks with its unique smart contract plugins (current mcap: 2.5B) Current ICOs NEM is just starting with ICOs and dapps but it already seems to be a full fledged and very professionally looking ICO platform. The number of ICOs running on NEM is still very small but ICOs looking for performance above else will see NEM as an atractive alternative Komodo (KMD) What is it? Komodo is a highly technical platform that concentrates heavily on the aspect of the decentralisation. It includes atomic swaps which allow to exchange different coins for other coins without having to use centralised exchanges. The team behind Komodo was reponsible for Bitcoin Dark before so they have experience in blockchains (current mcap: 310M) Current ICOs Just like NEM Komodo is just starting on the ICO scene. Komodo provices DIY dICO model which gives all developers and entrepreneurs access to free and easy-to-use, decentralized blockchain toolkit to jumpstart the choice. Dragonchain (DRGN) What is it? Dragonchain is a project ran by some of the employees of Disney. They are concentrating on providing specific blockchain solutions that are highly customisable and prepared for use cases for companies. They are providing an Incubator programme which basically takes care of companies trying to transition to blockchain/cryptocurrency (current mcap: 201M) Current ICOs Dragonchain is at a very early stage with the but the full incubator programme supposed to be fully rolled out in 2018 - which is when we can expect to see businesses to start using Dragonchain to run ICOs. Stratis (STRAT) What is it? In many ways Stratis is similar to Dragonchain. Stratis offers full service capabilities for the development, deployment and management of blockchain applications and solutions utilizing C# on the .Net framework. They are concentrating on businesses looking to switch to blockchain and cryptocurrencies (current mcap: 501M) Current ICOs Stratis is further in development than Dragonchain with 2 ICOs just getting launched on the platform so it does have a headstart in that regard. More ICOs are expected to be launched in the upcoming months. Waves (WAVES) What is it? Waves is a decentralised platform that allows people to create their own tokens and use them for crowdfunding, pay for goods, services, voting systems and loyalty or discount programmes. There is a decentralised exchange running on WAVES (current mcap: 446M) Current ICOs Waves already had some successful ICOs running on the platform with MobileGo being the biggest one. The token issuance is very simple on Waves which means it's often a choice for smaller business that can't afford other platforms.
