One Minute Economics: Are Taxes Fair? The Redistribution of Wealth via Taxation Explained in One Minute

  • Tuesday, 24 April 2018 09:26
Is the redistribution of wealth through taxation fair? On the surface, there seems to be a bit of a conflict, with net beneficiaries considering taxes fair, whereas net contributors complaining that taxation is basically a vehicle through which they lose wealth without receiving enough in return. While both sides make fair arguments, it's important to point out that the redistribution of wealth through taxation can actually generate win-win situations. It's ultimately all a fine balancing act, as I've explained through today's video. If the taxation system is well put together and the money that's raised through taxes is put to good use, society as a whole can be better off to such a degree that even net contributors end up being satisfied.
