ConsenSysMedia: ConsenSys Workshop: Layer 2 Overview & Basics

  • Tuesday, 24 August 2021 15:50
In this ConsenSys workshop, join Patrick McCorry as he walks you through an overview of Layer 2. Off-chain and layer-2 protocols are a promising blockchain scalability approach. Instead of sending every transaction to the layer-1 blockchain, it allows parties to transact locally amongst themselves (e.g. within a group or peer-to-peer) while sending minimal data to the layer-1 blockchain. There are two flavors of layer-2 protocols that include 1) How can we build non-custodial and fully transparent third-party ledgers? (Plasma, rollups, and more generically commitchains). 2) Given a list of ledgers, how can we quickly synchronise transactions across multiple ledgers for interoperability purposes? (e.g. state channels, defi magic). We’ll provide an overview of the field and, if time permits, we can deep-dive into some of the solutions / protocols. Visit us on the web: http://www.consensys.net
