Halfing oder auch Halving genannt Halving ist eine Besonderheit beim Bitcoin, die alle 4 Jahre genau alle 210’000 Blocks auftritt ( erstmals 2012 wurde der Blockreward von 50 BTC auf 25 BTC reduziert). 2016 beim Halving wurde der Blockreward von 25 BTC auf 12,5 BTC alle 10 minuten herabgesetzt. Hiermit wird eine programmierte Verknappung des Angebotes bewirkt. Durch das Halving werden die auf 21 Millionen begrenzte Anzahl Bitcoins erst im Jahr 2140 im Umlauf sein.
