Eric Ly is an entrepreneur and investor in Silicon Valley. He was a co-founder of LinkedIn, and is working on a blockchain project Hub right now. Crypto Heidi interviewed Eric at Global Disruptive Innovation Summit 2018. About myself. I'm Eric Ly, and I'm the founder of a blockchain project called Hub. Hub is all concerned about trust and creating trust on the internet. So we're building what we call a trust layer for people to gain more trust in transactions and interactions with people. And we're building it on the blockchain. So sounds like a lot of business might need your help. Now. Yeah, we hope that a business or small, you know, user, an individual user who needs more reputation, when they're starting out whatever line of business they're in, and they need to get more reputation to get more access to opportunities, they will be able to use our protocol to develop the reputation and be more trustworthy. So this sounds like a personal credit score and business line of credit. Yeah, in fact, that's a very appropriate analogy, because credit scores is one kind of score, you know, that helps people, you know, get loans, but we believe there are many kinds of different credit scores, if you will, across all different kinds of domains where people need more reputation, in order to get farther ahead. And that's what we want to develop. Wow, this is amazing. For example, I'm a consumer, is this a protocol, right? This is not DApp. How can I use it? So we're developing some proof of concepts as well. But in the long term, what we want is that we want people to own the reputation data. So they'll they'll be able to collect all that from existing platforms and put that on the blockchain. And they'll be able to use it whenever they want to enter a new marketplace, a new community where their reputation is really valuable to them. And so we want them to be able to leverage their own reputation. What is the status of the projects right now? Well, we are working very hard on the technology right now. So we're working on the protocol. And we're also working on also some proof of concept applications that will bring the value of the protocol to end users. How big is your team? It's about 10 people. And we're in Silicon Valley, in Ukraine, and we're looking at possibly, you know, starting something in China as well. What're the top three suggestions you're giving to people? Passion, persistence, and prepared. Do you also trade a little bit? Okay, what a bit I'm long-term all in into crypto. Do you like money? Who doesn't like money? Do you like to spend money or make money? I actually like to make money. What's your definition of success? Success is really, you know, happiness and be able to do the things that you want to do. So, for me, I'm very passionate about my work. And I'm very lucky that I get to do what I'm passionate about. What's the definition of happiness? Oh, that's an even harder question. You can't define at once but it's always like you know, temporary So, just be lucky that you know, you're alive and you know, you have good people around you that you can work with. What's your definition of an influencer? An influencer is someone who has the respect of a lot of people and usually you know, such things that are you know, insightful or make sense. Do you have an influencer? I guess I'm an influencer. Although I haven't tried to be an influencer. Just trying to, you know, do my work. Do you have a brand that you like? And do you want to turn your company into that type of brand? Well, you know, there's a lot of successful companies here in Silicon Valley. And I grew up here. And so I'm inspired by, you know, lots of, you know, companies that are here. And so I would say right now, my two favorite brands are Apple and Tesla. Whoo. Do you think we will do the same as the last year as a crypto market?
