Technological unemployment has been a highly debated issue for a fairly long time. For example, back in the days of the First Industrial Revolution, the so-called Luddites feared that industrialization will bring about chronic/long-term technological unemployment. Fortunately, that didn't end up happening. On the contrary, technology was able to create quite a few more jobs than it destroyed. What about today's technology though? Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and all that... to put it differently, the trillion dollar question is this: Will "robots" take our jobs and bring about major technological unemployment?
